At the GR High School, it is important to us to be actively involved in our communities. On Saturday, October 12th, the Renovation Club helped plant 40 trees at Union Grove State Park. The Gladbrook Trees Forever Organization has now planted over 200 trees in the park to replace the hundreds destroyed after the 2008 windstorm. 16 trees were planted by a group of GR students: Brooke Boyle, Carley Crozier, Brittany Yates, Shelby Yates, and accompanied by their advisor, Tom Boheman. This was the third year Renovation has helped Trees Forever of Gladbrook with this project, and this October event was their final planting. According to our record, the GR high school students have helped plant over 40 trees at Union Grove. We participate to show the importance of improving our environment and display the benefits trees have on our wellbeing. Planting trees is a very special opportunity personally, as well. There is something very unique about planting something that’ll be around for hundreds of years for others to admire. It’s always fun to return to the park and look at the trees you’ve planted in the past and see how they’ve grown. The GR Renovation Club truly believes that everyone should snatch up the opportunity to plant a tree and impact the future!
