The Fall Conference of the Third District American Legion and Auxiliary was hosted by the Vinton Post and Unit on Saturday, October 26. The Auxiliary met at the Wesley United Methodist Church with over 65 members and guests attending on this chilly fall day. Special guests were the Department President Ann Crawford of Onawa, Past Dept President Mary Littrell, North Liberty, and Membership Chairman Jayne Soppe of West Union. Gladbrook was represented by Jolene Denbow and Lisa Reinhard. The Gladbrook Unit was honored to be recognized with several National and Central Division awards presented by Past Dept Pres Mary Littrell. Central Division awards went to Jodi Betts for her poppy program, to Jeanne Paustian and the Juniors with the Security Military Support Award for their work with the Kyle Krull family. National Awards were received by the Juniors/Jeanne for their Americanism program, and Americanism award for their participation in the Dorothy Pearl Contest and to Lisa who received the National Unit Award for her Americanism work in the schools, at Westbrook and in the community with her many programs. Gladbrook continues to be one of the more active Auxiliary Units in the state and the reports we send in about the projects and programs we participate in are recognized by others. We thank our officers, committee chairman and all members for making us one of the best…Be proud!
