Ginger Jefferson remains in jail By:John Speer

Ginger Lea Jefferson, 57, continued to be held in the Tama County Jail on a charge of 1st degree murder on Friday, Oct. 18. On Oct. 4 she signed a court document waiving a preliminary hearing. The Tama County Attorney's Office said Friday a Trial information will be filed in Tama County District Court soon in the case. Jefferson is represented by public defenders Michael Jones and Aaron Sienbrecht. She is being held on $1 million cash bond. Jefferson, of Toledo, was charge in the death of her daughter-in-law, Kerry Lea O'Clair Jefferson, 32. O'Clair-Jefferson was found dead by police performing a welfare check at a Tama residence on Sept. 25. The charge was filed by Tama Police Chief Jeff Filloon.
