September 27, 2013
Northern-Sun Print
The Gladbrook UMW met September 18th with 14 members present. The hostesses for the day were Mary Appelgate and Diane Mussig. Everyone enjoyed the delicious coffee cake and coffee. Chris Hoskensen from the Orchard Hill Church in Cedar Falls gave the program about the Food for the Hungry and sponsorship for children in Mozambique. The UMW discussed the possibility of sponsoring a child in this program. After much discussion it was decided to table this project until we get more information from UMCOR, Self Help and other children sponsor programs. There was a question if individuals may give money, but not actually sponsor a child. Bonnie Murty gave devotions and Kay Lowry’s reviewed Rev. Rick Warren’s “Shape” for the lesson. “Shape” represents Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality and Experience. The UMW gave money for two children to attend summer camp. The Soup Supper will be November 5th and the sign-up sheet is ready. The Trustees are requesting a donation to purchase the window coverings for the parsonage and the office furniture. At this time the UMW will make a donation towards the window coverings and after the soup supper the group may make another donation. It was also mentioned the vacuum is not working, it will be taken in for repairs.
