Gladbrook Alive And Growing-Fire Station and Ambulance Building Fund Raising takes another jump, Tops $680,000

August 29, 2013
Northern-Sun Print

The new Fire Station and Ambulance Building project and the funding drive took another great jump the past two weeks. We can report the project has pledges of over $680,000 toward the project goal of $800,000. Gladbrook will continue to be alive and growing. We are well on our way to develop another reason to live and invest in the Gladbrook Community. There were again a lot of medium level pledges that gave the effort a nice boost ahead of the Alumni banquet. This would be a great time for fellow GHS alumni to leave a pledge or a check. All donors will be recognized in the Gladbrook City Centre.

At the last fund raising coordination meeting it was mentioned that the Gladbrook Fire Department covers over 95 acres as first responders with ambulance crew covering that many acres as well. This is a mighty task at times with only a volunteer staff. A site for the new building has been selected next to the water tower south of Highway 96. The proximity to the new 150,000 gallon water tower will make filling tanker trucks fast and efficient, saving valuable time in an emergency. The property has been purchased and you should see the site being cleared in the next couple weeks to make room for the new facility.

With a continued successful fund drive, it is anticipated that construction will begin the Summer/Fall of 2014 with the building enclosed before Christmas 2014. Pledge forms can be picked up at Gladbrook City Hall. The project is accepting 3 year pledges with payments in December 2013, December 2014 and January 2015. All contributions will go through the Gladbrook Community Foundation and are tax deductible. If you have any questions regarding the project contact any of the Gladbrook Firemen or Mayor Keith Sash.
