June 1, 2013

The Gladbrook Women’s Club held their May Luncheon on May 9, 2013 with a trip to the Amana Colonies. Even though it was a rainy and windy day, it did not dampen the women’s spirits. They enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Ronneburg Restaurant. Following the meal, President Karen Handorf held installation of new officers for the 2013-2014 year. They are as follows: President: Pat Clausen, Vice President: Shirley Young, Recording Secretary: Barb Luethje, Treasurer: Shirley Miell, Membership: Jolene Denbow, Corresponding Secretary: Mary Applegate and Past Presidents: Karen Handorf and Vivien LeVier. President Handorf had a delightful way of introducing the new officers by comparing their responsibilities with a spice, giving each lady the spice that best describes the duties of their office. Pat Clausen read the June, July and August birthdays and anniversaries. Joan Raum, chairperson for the Corn Carnival Float Committee said she had talked to her committee members and they would be meeting soon. Following the luncheon, the ladies were free to sight see and shop. A fun time was had by all. A big thank you to Pat Clausen who organized and planned this trip. The spring Fling will be Friday, June 7, 2013. Those attending will leave the Methodist Parking lot at 8:30. The ladies will be traveling to the Readlyn area where a full day of activities is planned. For futher information, contact Karen Handorf.
