Melvin D. Roberts

Melvin D Roberts passed away at his home in Atlanta, GA on Saturday May 11, 2013. Mel was born in Corydon, IA on July 30, 1947, the son of Daryl and Wilma Roberts. Mel was a 1966 graduate of Gladbrook High School. After serving his country in the U.S. Air Force, Mel was a policeman for the Marshalltown Police Department. He then worked construction with his brother and father. In the mid 80’s, Mel moved to Atlanta where he worked in both home and commercial construction. Mel is survived by a daughter, Dana Willis, a son, Bart (Christina) Willis, one grandson Jacob Willis all of Grinnell, one brother Art (Maggie) Roberts, of Dunkerton, IA, two sisters, Jean Overton of Cedar Rapids, IA and Kathy (Bob) Terry of Liscomb, IA, a brother in law, Joe Peevy of Stockbridge, GA, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Jan Peevy, a brother in law Stan Overton, and two nephews David Overton and Scott Roberts. The family will hold a private graveside celebration of life and memories at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Garrison Cemetery, Garrison, IA where he will be buried next to his parents.
