“Rebels Stumble Against Spartans” The Rebels traveled to Grundy Center on January 14 to take on Coach Dirks and his large number of Spartans. The first half started out quickly for the Rebels as we jumped to a 4-0 lead. The Spartans came back and teams traded baskets for a 13-13 tie at the quarter. Both teams continued to battle hard only to find the Spartans holding to a 22-19 lead at half-time. The second half was a different story for the Rebels. A missed shot turned into a Spartan barrage of baskets and a deficit of 36-26 at the end of the third quarter. Again in the fourth the Spartans continued to shoot well enough for the Rebels to make a come back. The horn sounded with a 50-34 loss. *Rebel Scoring: *Gage Murty - 1 point, *Caden Kickbush - 11 points, *Matt Johannsen - 2 points, *Walker Thede-8 points, *Mason Skovgaard - 12 points.

“Rebels Win Over Cobras” The young Rebels traveled to Union on January 15 to take on the Cobra’s of BCLUW. After a trip to the trophy case Rebels took the court. The first half was very competitive as the Cobras out played the Rebels despite trailing 13-12 at the break. Following discussion in the locker room at halftime, the Rebels came out with fire and proceeded to play to the level they are capable of. The defense shut down the Cobras as they managed only 2 points in the second half. When the final horn sounded the Rebels walked off the court with a 30-14 victory. *Scoring for the rebels were: *Gage Murty - 2 points, *Caden Kickbush - 7 points, *Matt Johannsen - 5 points, *Walker Thede - 6 points, *Mason Skovgaard - 8 points and *Hunter Smoldt - 2 points.

“Rebels Down Tiers” The Rebels took the scenic route to Ratcliffe on Jan. 17 to take battle with the South Hardin Tigers. The first quarter started with the Rebels jumping out of an early 12-0 lead using our pressure defense and high percentage shots. Second period action saw the Rebels fall back into a half court defense pressuring the back court. These efforts resulted in a first half shut out with a score of 30-0. Having been in our opponents situation during my career it was our plan to hold off on the pressure while still playing hard this quarter. During this game it was the goal to see all Rebel players in the scoring column. This goal was accomplised as the final score stood in our favor with a 41-10 win. *Rebel scorers were the following: *Gage Murty - 6 points, *Caden Kickbush - 6 points, *Joel Davis - 2 points, *Matt Johannsen - 4 points, *Walker Thede - 8 points, *Mason Skovgaard - 2 points, *Owen Beach - 4 points, *Will Blakesley - 3 points, *Hunter Smoldt - 6 points.
