Tama County Supervisors Larry Vest, Dan Wilkens and Kendall Jordan, received word from County Engineer Lyle Brehm, Monday morning, October 29, that bids had been received in Ames for a bridge replacement project. The bridge replacement project is in Section 32 in Carlton Township on 270th Street between B Avenue and C Avenue Low bid was from Godbersen-Smith Construction Company out of Ida Grove, Iowa. The low bid was for $265,041.40. This is for a 90 foot by 30 foot concrete slab bridge which will replace a pony truss that is currently closed. Brehm said he had received the contract documents from the Iowa DOT and asked to board to approve the contract so he can then send the contract documents to the contractor (Godbersen-Smith) to fill out and return to him for the chairman to sign. Once this is done the papers can go back to the DOT. Supervisor Jordan made a motion to approve to add Fayette County to the County Social Services 28E agreement, with all supervisors agreeing. The Tama County Recorders quarterly report shows 223 recording deeds, 186 real estate mortgages, 10 affidavits, 262 releases and assignments and 313 miscellaneous documents being filed, as well as Snowmobile/ATV titles, liens and writing fees, Boats Registration, Hunting and Fishing licensses, auditor transfer fees, and other transactions. This came to a total fees collected in the amount of $25,639.48 for July, August and September of 2012. Claims approved for the past week came to $102,866.34.
