Tama County Supervisors formally approved Monday the transfer of $200,000 in Local Option Sales Tax funds to pay for additional gravel and hauling for rural roads across the county. The action has been underway due to road conditions and had previously been authorized by the supervisors. County Engineer Lyle Brehm reported Monday road crews continue to battle “frost boils and soft spots” in road surfaces. Contract haulers have been working delivering rock to locations in need he said. It has been reported the rural gravel roads have been subject to wetter than normal weather and heavy winter snowfall thawing making the surfaces “mushy” and impassable in stretches. Suspensions Five properties in Tama County were approved for tax suspension payments for the 2017 property tax year due in 2018-19 on a 3-0 vote of the Board of Supervisors on Monday.
