Tama County 4-H Clubs have been working together to help stop hunger in Tama County. Throughout the months of September and early October 4-H clubs collected food for the local food banks. Tama County Youth Coordinator, Jenny Hulme, took the collected items to the Food Bank in Tama on October 16. Young Guns, The Clutier Clover Kids along with The Clutier Cowboys and Cowgirls were responsible for collecting this food. Buckingham Boosters and Gladbrook Clover Kids also participated in the food drive (their collected food was taken to their food pantries in Traer and Gladbrook). The Clutier Clubs and the Young Guns together collected 181.5 pounds of food! The Tama Food Bank was ecstatic to receive this donation as their shelves were running bare. Tama County 4-H Clubs are continuing their work to stop hunger by raising money for Meals From the Heartland. Tama County 4-H needs to raise $3,200.00 in order to package 30,000 meals in April of 2019. Club members will come together to package the meals which will be sent to food banks in Iowa and across the world. There are 10 Clover Kid and 4-H Clubs throughout Tama County. Club locations include: Traer, Gladbrook, Garwin, Clutier and Toledo. For more information about Tama County 4-H, contact the Tama County Extension and Outreach Office at jhulme@iastate.edu or 641-484-2703
