An agreement to provide law enforcement protection to the city of Montour by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office was approved for renewal by the Board of Supervisors on Monday, Oct. 8. The contract calls for 30 hours of coverage monthly at a total annual cost of $3,200. Supervisors said the hours were increased slightly over last year. The Montour law enforcement agreement completes the coverage of the county for cities without local police including Chelsea, Elberon, Clutier, Traer, Gladbrook, Lincoln and Garwin as well as Montour. Toledo, Tama and Dysart have their own departments. Vining does not contract for protection. In other business the supervisors: •approved a request by Treasurer Michelle Yuska to raise the deposit limit at The State Bank of Toledo from $12 million to $14 million. The change was sought because some mortgage companies have begin paying the entire year property tax bill at one time as opposed to making 1st and 2nd half payments. •approved weekly claims totaling $59,077.
