The Garwin Modern Homemakers met Tuesday, July 8 at the home of Janet Abbe, on a most beautiful Summer Day. Janet invited Mike Stegman from the Marshall County Conservation Office to give a presentation program about birds. He gave his program first so he could go on to other things he had scheduled. It was very interesting. Then President Kathy Thurston read a few funny quotes from some of the Presidents of the United States. The minutes of the June meeting were read and approved. Janet had roll call. Question was, do you feed the birds, in winter, summer or all the time? Also how many species do you have at your feeder and can you name them? It was answered by 10 members. We had three club members celebrating 50 years of marriage. They were honored with a gift card to a restaurant. Darlene Bovenmyer submitted a bill for $75.00, which was paid. Janet read a poem called "Hugs." Meeting was closed and Janet served refreshments of cheesecake with raspberries and whipped creme, snack mix, candies, nuts, coffee and raspberry tea. August Hostess is Darlene Bovenmyer, and she said we will go to Smokin G's BBQ in Marshalltown for lunch about 11:30. Elaine Upah will have roll call.
