County Engineer Lyle Brehm met with the Tama County Board of Supervisors Monday morning, June 30, informing supervisors of two contracts for bridge replacement . Brehm received bids on a bridge in Grant township, section 14 and Clark township, section 26. The low bids came from Boulder Contracting out of Grundy Center, Iowa. The low bid on the Grant township which is a replacement of the bridge with a 2- cell box culvert and at a cost of $327,018.85. The second bid was for the bridge in Clark township with a replacement of a box culvert with a low bid of $282,575.00. Brehn told supervisors that after today’s approval of the contracts he would send the contracts to Boulder Contracting and have them approve and sign the contract, returning the contract for the Chairman of the Tama County Board of Supervisors to sign. Brehm reported the Tama County Bridge crew is working in Richland and Columbia township. A permit was approved for Windstream to do work at 2347 Highway E64 in Richland Township. Each year at this time a transfer of funds takes place. Supervisors approved a 2015 fiscal year transfer of funds from the General Basic Fund to the Secondary Road fund for $146,959.00 and a transfer from the Rural Fund to the Secondary Road Fund for $1,817,587.00 for a total transfer of $1,964,546. Another resolution was approved to appropriate funds as adopted in the county budget to the county departments for the fiscal year of 2015. This covers the Board of Supervisors for $986,641, County Auditor $321,474, County Treasurer $402,362, County Attorney $509,239, County Sheriff $2,278,529, Substance Abuse $51,825, County Recorder $208,089, County Zoning $9252, Road Clearance $597,019, County Engineer $9,061,761, Veterans Affairs $92,896, County Conservation $1,050,377, County Health/Nurses $1,251,028, Weed Control $8141, County Relief/Social Programs $57,571, County Care Facility $ 20,000, Human Services $8500, Medical Examiner $38,200, Correctional Services $102,000, Court Services $55,500, Libraries $57,938, Historical Society Grant $14,500, 4-H Fair Grant $20,000, Other Social Services $16,000, Bee Hive Inspection $200, Township Officers $5100, Policy and Administration $40,600, Ambulance $24,350, General Services $340,091, Data Processing $101,165, Mental Health $427,630, County Farm $25,000, and Non Departmental $$1,559,037. Nancy Carlson was reappointed to continue on the Tama County Board of Adjustments. This is a four year term and her present term expired today. A Liquor License was approved for John Ernest Vineyard, rural Tama. Claims approved for payment for the past week came to $90,089.08.
