Tuesday morning, June 17, the Tama County Board of Supervisors approved Law Enforcement contracts between Tama County and the towns of Dysart, Clutier, Chelsea, Elberon, Garwin, Gladbrook, Montour, Traer and Lincoln. The contracts are basically the same as the contracts from the previous year. A Letter of Support for the Lead Hazard Control Grant Program will be carried out. Tama County has participated in this program previously. Previously there was a request for abatement of taxes for a mobile home in Garwin. The mobile home was uninhabitable and was a nuisance. County Treasurer Michelle Yuska told supervisors the mobile home has now been demolished and is no longer there. Susan Breuklander has asked for an abatement of taxes in the amount of $518.00 and this was approved. This will get the property back on the property tax roll. Yuska also told supervisors there was 192 parcels of properties at the tax sale on Monday June 16. County Engineer Lyle Brehm told supervisors the City of Tama has contacted him on the replacement of a bridge on East Ninth Street in Tama. The old bridge will be removed and a box culvert will replace it. The City of Tama will pay for this. Windstream requested a utility permit for work to be done on East 9th Street Tama where the bridge is to be removed. Claims for the past week came to $102,803.93.
