On April 14th, G-R junior Meg Edler, accompanied by Mrs. Wilson, attended the 2014 Iowa Youth Institute sponsored by the World Food Prize organization. Edler wrote a research paper on animal agriculture in Haiti. Her solution to ending hunger and addressing problems of agriculture in Haiti was the addition of goats. Goats could play a role in feeding rural families by giving the family something sustainable that they could eat, as well as sell to make money to educate their children and feed their family. The day included workshops on ending world hunger and presentations by Jo Luck, 2010 World Prize Laureate; Steven Leath, Iowa State University Ambassador, Kenneth Quinn, President of World Food Prize Foundation; Governor Terry Branstad and Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds.
