Plans for the 92nd Gladbrook Corn Carnival are well underway. The annual celebration will be held June 26th thru June 29th this summer. The theme this year will be “Remembering Our Heritage”. To celebrate our theme, we will be honoring our Gladbrook area couples that have celebrated 60 or more wedding anniversaries with an open house on Saturday, June 28th from 4 to 6:00 pm at the Peace Church. More information will be available as plans continue to develop on this special event. The Grand Parade will be held on Friday, June 27th starting at 6:30pm. Serving as this year’s Grand Marshals will be Bill and Doris Tessau. A new entry in the parade this year will be the Spanish Horse Riders out of the Des Moines area. We are looking forward to several new floats that are in the planning stages as well. It is anticipated that the mascots of UNI, Iowa, and Iowa State will also make an appearance at the parade celebrating our educational heritage. Don’t forget to start getting your entries for the Kiddies Parade ready as well. That will be held at 6:30 on Thursday, June 26th on the street north of the city park. Superior Equipment will once again be back with lots of midway rides for all ages. The High Roller will again be a ride you do not want to miss. Advance Ride Coupons will be available at local merchants in early June. New this year will be Laser Tag by Gotcha Games. This will be located right south of the Napa building. Ages 8 and above are welcome to participate throughout the obstacles on Friday and Saturday. Lots of activities will take place on Saturday with the Antique Tractor Ride, Kids Activities in the Park, Sand Volleyball, Breakfast in the Park, the 5K Walk/Run, the Classic Car Show/Cruise in the afternoon, and ending the day with Fireworks southeast of town sponsored by Luethje Auto Sales. Commemorative t-shirts are now on sale at Serendipity by deb. Stop by the store and get your shirts early.
