2014 3rd District Jr. Auxiliary Conference

The 2014 3rd District Jr. Auxiliary Conference was held on April 6th, at the Waverly Legion Hall. Hayley Feldhouse, Conrad, was the President with the following officers: V-P; Deidra Green, Conrad; Secretary Kendra Vavroch (filling in for Abby Smith), Gladbrook; Chaplain Kayla Vavroch, Gladbrook, Historian Gracie Nagle (filling in for Justina Eggers), Gladbrook; Sgt-at-Arms Haley Clemons, Conrad, & Skylar Feldhouse, Conrad. Following a dinner served by the Waverly Auxiliary, the meeting was called to order by Parliamentarian Jolene Denbow. Carrying the Unit & District flags in the processional were Kyla Moore, Stella Betts, Madisyn Eggers, and Ashlyn Moore. The POW flag was placed by Sydney Vavroch, and the “Vacant Chair” was read by Deidra Green. Waverly Commander Richard Miller and Unit President Vera Hoins brought greetings. 3rd District Chairman of Juniors Lois Slaba gave the response. Juniors units answering roll call was Conrad and Gladbrook. Total registration was 22 Juniors, 19 Seniors, and 5 Legionnaires for a total of 46. Gladbrook had 16 Juniors present and 4 Seniors, Jolene Denbow, Jodi Betts, Kathy Vavroch, and Jeanne Paustian. Each Unit gave a copy of their yearly activities to Historian Gracie. She showed the history book Justina had made for Hayley. Chaplain Kayla thanked everyone who sent prayers for Hayley‘s “Book of Prayers & Inspirations”. Other dignitaries present who brought greetings were 3rd District President Robin Willits, Conrad, and 3rd District Commander Jim Zacharius. President Hayley’s special guest was the Department Jr. President Maureen Dolan of Strawberry Point. A Pennies March was held with the proceeds going to President Hayley’s project, coloring books and colors for military kids. $43.62 was collected from the Pennies March. Lots of colors and books were placed in the basket with many coming from the Gladbrook Jrs. Gladbrook Unit gave a monetary donation for Hayley’s project. Pop-tabs were collected for the Ronald McDonald House. Gladbrook Juniors brought pop tabs weighing 42 pounds. The following officers were elected for the 2014-2015 year: President Skylar Feldhouse, Conrad; V-P Hayley Clemons, Conrad; Secretary Madisyn Eggers, Gladbrook; Chaplain, Kayla Vavroch, Gladbrook; Historian Gracie Nagle, Gladbrook; Sgt-at-Arms Allie Clemons, Conrad & Adelyn Sienknecht, Gladbrook. They were installed by the 3rd District President Robin Willits. President Hayley’s mother pinned on her past president’s pin. Denver will host the 2015 conference. Contest results were announced by Lois Slaba. Gladbrook earn first place finishes in three categories of Handiwork Contest and Best Scrapbook, Stella Betts won first place with her poppy corsage and Adelyn Sienknecht earned 2nd place honors. Gladbrook door prize winners were Gracie Nagle, Kendra Vavroch, Kasia Dale, Tatum Ridout, and Laney Sienknecht. For entertainment the Juniors enjoyed singing “You Are My Sunshine”. Secretary Kendra presented Hayley with a gift from her officers, which was the Willow Tree angel “Freedom”. The conference ended with singing “God Bless America” and the retirement of colors.
