All-State Speech honors for GMG and G-R groups

The Iowa High School Speech Association announced that a Group Improv from Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School and a Radio Broadcasting Team from GMG High School have been selected for All State Honors. They will perform on Saturday, February 22 during the prestigious All-State Festival at Iowa State Center in Ames.

G-R Seniors Alyssa Christopher and Sadie Walton received the honor for their performance at the Large Group State Contest in Waterloo on February 8. GMG Radio Broadcasting WPA team members include seniors Codi Groth, Summer Langenbau, Peyton Mannan, Allison Stegmann, Olivia Welton, and sophomores Josh Gruen, Cole Langenbau and Anna Scheidel.

According to IHSSA Director Craig Ihnen, " Students who perform in this event represent the highest accomplishment in speech and drama among our young people."

The GMG All-State Broadcasting Team WPA will perform during the Iowa High School Speech Association All-State Festival in Ames on February 22. Alyssa and Sadie were among the 740 group improvisations originally entered in district competition. Only 25 of the most outstanding will perform. The GMG Radio Broadcasting team is one of only 16 to be selected to perform at the All-State Festival.

Mrs. Ellen Johannes is the Speech Coach from G-R High School. Mrs. Margaret Thomsen is the Speech Coach from GMG.
