The Wolfcreek Whirlwinds 4H Club met on Sunday January 9th at the City Center in Gladbrook. For the past year the club has been volunteering at the movie on the second Sunday of the month at the theatre. This experience has been good for the members to learn more about the value of community service. In addition to volunteering we hold our meetings at the City Center. This month we had three members do presentations. Luke Petty presented to the club about how to properly shoot a basketball, Layne Murty presented about the history of the John Deere 4020 tractor series, and Conner Murty presented to the group an overview of the sport of Wrestling. Information about a two day summer camp at Pine Lake in June was handed out to all members. Members interested in going should bring their completed forms and fees to the March meeting. In March we will be going to the Des Moines Botanical Garden for a tour of the newly renovated facility. If any parents have questions about this or the summer camp please contact Barb Petty or Erin Murty. Following our meeting the members made duct tape billfolds, a project that they can perfect and take to the Tama County Fair this summer. In addition to this, our members were asked to serve the meal along with another club, for the Tama County Pork Producers Banquet in January. Our members did a fantastic job serving and cleaning up after the banquet. It was also a good experience and we thank the Pork Producers for the opportunity.
