Victoria Duvall, 5th and 6th grade Language Arts/Reading teacher at Gladbrook-Reinbeck Middle School, has started a reading incentive for the 5th and 6th graders to encourage them to read outside of school. Each quarter the goal is for them to read 500 pages. If students individually reach that goal, and prove they read the books by doing book talks with teachers, they have earned a reward at the end of the quarter.
This quarter, 35 students met the goal and got to watch "Despicable Me 2" at school on Thursday, January 16.
Selected were three students from each grade who had read the most pages for another special award. Together the top six readers read 12,000 pages!
Top three readers from the 5th & 6th grades who read the most were (not in order): Megan Lindley, Keagan Giesking, Paige Creswell, Carsen Bystricky, Braydon Rohrer, Brianna Strohbehn.
The top three 5th graders who read the most 2nd quarter were:
Megan Lindley: 2,190 pages
Keagan Giesking: 2,237 pages
Paige Creswell: 2,313 pages
The top three 6th graders who read the most 2nd quarter were:
Carsen Bystricky: 865 pages
Braydon Rohrer: 1,364 pages
Brianna Strohbehn: 3,029 pages
