On Saturday, January 11, the NEIBA District Honor Jazz Band was held at Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School. GMG sent Dillon Slingluff to represent our school. He played as a lead alto in the 1A/2A jazz band made up of 21 students selected from high schools through out the Northeast Iowa Bandmasters Association District. This prestigious event was directed by Steve Stickney, band director from Linn-Mar High School. The 21 students selected had rehearsed all day and put on a concert that very evening along with the district 3A and 4A honor jazz bands. Dillon’s band played “The Chant”, “Nardis”, and “Lester Leaps In”. Dillon was a featured solo on “Nardis”. GMG is very proud of Senior Dillion Slingluff and his many accomplishments. He’s an amazing musician, and everyone should get the chance to see him play his instruments, and sing his songs. Congrats, Dillion, on a job well done!
