Tama County Engineer Lyle Brehm told the Tama County Board of Supervisors they had spent a lot this year on salt, but hadn’t spent much on extra labor for this winter. Brehm stated expenses had been higher this year than some but not as high as many years. The road crew has been doing brush trimming as well as other jobs that needed to be done. The county road department wants to work on the gas pumps at the County Shed when weather permits. Brehm said they would get this done before things get busy this spring. Supervisor Larry Vest ask how gas tax was handled with the county. The county pays gasoline tax when purchased , later applying for a refund of the state tax. On Diesel, tax is not charged to the county. An agreement for North East Iowa Response Group was on the agenda, but supervisors decided they wanted another week to review the agreement. This will be on the agenda next week for a decision. Monday, February 10th has been set for canvassing the February 4th School election. This will be at 11:30 on the 4th in the Supervisors room. Claims for the past week presented for payment came to $33,289.11.
