Auxiliary Sewing Days

January 24, 2014
Northern-Sun Print
An enthusiastic group of Gladbrook Auxiliary ladies and a couple men met on Wednesday and Thursday, Jan 15 and 16 to again cut denim and cotton materials into strips to be sewn, snipped and rolled for the rug looms at the Iowa Veterans Home. Five sewing machines were humming as the ladies giggled, lunched and worked. On Wednesday, we enjoyed our ‘famous’ dump soup. It is good, but don’t ask for the recipe. Then on Thursday more came and we really attacked the bags of cut strips of denim that Dick had prepared for us. We enjoyed lasagna and finished with total of nearly 60 balls. This is a biannual affair for us and it is growing every year.
