The Gladbrook Legion served as hosts serving their annual oyster soup, chili supper to a large group which included Auxiliary members, new members, and our volunteers from the G-R ambulance and Gladbrook Fire Dept on Monday evening, January 13 at the Memorial Bldg. The Legion was able to present a monetary donation to the Fire Dept/Ambulance building fund from the funds of their last pancake breakfast. The Auxiliary business meeting was opened by President Jeanne as she introduced the new members present for induction into our organization. They were Doris Allen, Marjorie Raum and her daughter Leanna Stamp. They each received their membership pin. Other new senior members are Barbara Muhs, Stacy Melton, Carly Davis, Malinda Sharff, Janet Busch, and Paula Hamann. Welcome ladies and we appreciate your support of our veterans, their families and our communities. We have met our membership goal of 263 and thank you! The Pledge of Allegiance and prayer were given with six officers answering roll call. Other members answered with what they liked about winter. Some liked it, some liked the clean snow appearance and some did not like it! President Jeanne thanked everyone who helped or donated for the Kids Shopping Day in December with 140 kids participating. She also thanked the committee who served and entertained the Senior citizens for their December outing among the Festival of Trees in the City Center. We are proud to announce that Kendra Vavroch will be our Girls State representative this year and she will be registering ‘online’ soon. Our next meeting will be on Monday, February 10 when the Auxiliary will be serving a 6:30 lunch followed by the Americanism and Legislative reports. The meeting was adjourned with prayer.
