It Was Another WONDERFUL Kids’ Shopping Day!

Kids’ Shopping Day isn’t about the grown-ups who put it together, but we all certainly thank all of the hands that helped. It’s about the children. The day is meant to give them joy. The kind of joy found in thinking of others, instead of just self. The joy found in being persistent till the right gift is found that will make someone happy. The joy in handing the chosen gift to a loved one, and watching them open it. And maybe hearing the real Christmas story once more will plant the seed of eternal joy found in Jesus, the baby born to us on a Christmas long ago. It’s all about loving the children. Here’s a little story from this year’s KSD. A five year old Kindergartener that was being helped to find his way through the store looked and looked for the perfect gift for his grandpa. Nothing was quite right. But once he spied the energy efficient light bulb, he simply and frankly said, “I know Grandpa would like this.” He quickly put that light bulb in his shopping bag and then got to right to work looking for Grandma’s gift. Ah, the joy of finding just the right (and in this case very simple) gift all by yourself! And it was fun watching the Ladies from Bethlehem sharing little nuggets of the Christmas Story with the kids. They blessed the children, and the children blessed them… Our Gladbrook area people shared their belongings, time, love, and faith with the children. ~ Romans tells us, “Love one another…” We know that it’s God who gives us the love that motivates us to serve with heart. If we ask, He will help us love with that kind of spirit every day. Let’s all keep growing in the knowledge of, love for, obedience to, and faith in our wonderful Savior Jesus, whom God so lovingly sent to all of us on that first Christmas Day. Merry Christmas! Share the JOY! Happy New Year, everyone!
