The GMG Elementary collected canned goods for the Marshall and Tama County Food Banks. The fifth grade, led by teachers, Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Edens, was in charge of counting and sorting the collection. There was even a reward for any child who contributed to the drive - they could wear their Pajamas to school on December 7. The children collected 487 food items over a period of two weeks. Their teachers incorporated a math lesson into the sorting process. It was a great way to see the concept of tens in action. The children gathered for a group photo following the sorting. Pictured in front are: Brie Ridout, Kaci Krier, Justin Abernathy, Jayden Hessenius, Angel Schewe, Frances Jackson, Stephenie Claussen, Joaquin Fitzsimmons, Noah Ratliff, Ross Murty and Logan Bowie. Second row: Nick Collins, Caitlin Selvog, Emily Vaughn, Caylee Selvog, Shelyn Trumbo and Ayden Kelley. Back row: Taylor O’Neal, Avery Bryant, Devin Davis, Alex Rico, Cameron Spurlin, Blake Krull, Zach Krull, Layne Murty Brock Teske, Ashanti Rinehart, Katie Harris, Autumn Peterson, Chloe Cornwell, Conner Murty and Ethan Espenscheid. In far back are Mrs. Edens, Mrs. Taylor and Principal Frimml.
