Gladbrook Auxiliary

The Gladbrook Legion and Auxiliary were entertained for their Christmas meeting by a large enthusiastic group of Junior members on Wednesday evening, December 11 at the Memorial Bldg. A supper was served to all by Jackie Sherman, Jan Schulz and Lori Sanderson after which Jackie and Cindy Eggers led their young charges in readings and action activity to The Nutcracker Song. From the youngest (about 3) to the eldest, they all brought smiles to the faces of members attending with their energy and excitement. The program closed with the singing of favorite Christmas carols and ended with the candle lighting and “Silent Night”. The Juniors each received a gingerbread tree ornament to hang on their tree. We want to welcome seven new junior members to this group as well. They will all be enjoying a Christmas movie and gift exchange the week of Christmas break. The Legion and Auxiliary then broke for their separate meetings as President Jeanne thanked members who had served the 40&8 supper, worked at the IVH Gift Shop and Wrap, baked cookies for the IVH Open House and those who plan to help with the Kids Shopping Day project this weekend and serve the Senior Citizens on Friday. A ‘take away’ gift exchange was again enjoyed with a varied assortment of gifts as their reward. We have met our membership goal of 263 members and have added 10 new senior members to our roster. Our next meeting will be Monday, January 13, when the Legion will be serving their annual Oyster Stew and Chili supper to the Auxiliary, our G-L Ambulance, Lincoln and Gladbrook Fire Dept volunteers and all our new Auxiliary and Legion members. We hope to see all of you at 6:30pm as we thank you for your volunteer service to our community.
