Three area Dairy goat breeders showed their goats at the annual Caprine Cornhusker Classic Dairy Goat Show at the Lancaster County Super Fair. The group showed 22 goats and came home with four Grand Champions, two Reserve Champions, one Best of Breed and one Doe of Show. Breeders showing at the fair included: Jerry and Jancie Schwennen of Jesup; Ron Dengler of Clutier; and Jim Gethmann of Gladbrook. The three families have traveled together to the show for several years. Jim Gethmann said, “Normally this is a family affair with ten to twelve members attending, but this year none of the kids or grand-kids were able to make it, so the adults had to take control.” Jerry and Janice Schwennen showed the Alpine Senior Champ and the Recorded grade Junior Reserve Champ. Ron Dengler showed the Senior Alpine Best of Breed and the Recorded Grade Junior Champ. Jim Gethmann showed the Recorded Grade Senior Champ, Alpine Junior Champ and Reserve Champion and the Junior Doe of Show. Gethmann said, “Iowa was very well represented and Nebraska definitely knew we were there.” Pictured in the photo l-r are: Janice Schwennen, Janice’s brother, Dan; Ron Dengler, Jeremey Seffron, Jim Gethmann and Jerry Schwennen.
