Gladbrook United Methodist Women

The Gladbrook UMW met October 16th with 13 ladies in attendance. Linda Schneider and Marcy Knaack were the hostess for the day. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful fall decorations and delicious sweet rolls and coffee. Rev. Barb Muhs gave the program on the history our favorite hymns. It was very enlightening and it closed with the ladies participating in playing the hymn “How Great Thou Art” with hand bells. Plans for the Soup Supper are progressing along on schedule. The Nominating committee has announced the officers for the 2014-15 year. President – June Klinefelter Vice-President – Joyce Bruene Secretary–Pauline Flamme Treasurer– Marcy Knaack Nominating Committee – Carol Mead Pasty gave a report concerning supporting children around the world with UMCOR and Self Help International. There was no decision made and no further action will be taken at this time. The Tweedy family from the Evangelical Free Will Church of Marshalltown requested a monetary donation for their upcoming mission trip to Honduras. The group will be making monetary donations to Bidwell, Hillcrest, Schessler Hall and Hawthorne Hill for the Christmas Project. Dates to remember – October 28 group 3 goes to Pheasant Ridge and November 19 group 4 goes to Westbrooke Acres. The Ingathering kits are ready for delivery. Pauline won the door prize. The meeting closed with everyone joining hands and saying the Lord’s Prayer.
