Cookbook Committee plants pine in Garwin City Park

October 25, 2013

The Flower Committee of the Garwin Quasquicentennial Cookbook Committee recently planted a Vaner-Wolf Pine in the Garwin City Park. The tree is located just to the northeast of the bandstand.

The Cookbook Committee published the cookbook in 2005 during the Garwin 125th celebration. The Committee remains active as they sell ice cream and pie during the Wednesday night festivities - with all proceeds for the betterment of Garwin.

The Committee purchased large flower planters located at the corners on main Street. They are also the ladies responsible for the flowers edging the corners at the four-way stop just north of Main Street.

Members of the Cookbook Committee pictured on the day of the tree planting include: Joan Bacon, Winona Paustian, Vivien LeVier, Elaine Upah, Shirley Delfs, Shirley Richards and Darlene Bovenmyer. Not pictured are Ruth Beck, Sherry Folks and Phyllis Konicek. Carley Luethje was also a Committee member and passed away earlier this year.

Plans are underway for the newly planted tree to be decorated and adorned with Christmas lights during the upcoming holidays.
