Another new faculty face at GR for the 2013 2014 school year is Jackie Bakker. She teaches the family and consumer science classes: early childhood, child development, foods and health. Next trimester she will also be teaching in introduction to psychology at the Outreach Center. Bakker states that she taught for 11 years at Eastern Allamakee School District in Lansing, Iowa. She taught family and consumer science, social sciences, college psychology, and was an National Honors Society advisor. Bakker went to St Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota, and graduated with a B.A. in psychology and an M.A. in instruction. She got married this summer so she moved to live with my husband. Bakker chose GR because “I thought it looked like a great school where students were put first. I liked the small town atmosphere and was excited about the one to one technology advanced and how progressive it was.” She concludes that “GR is a wonderful school. People have been very welcoming. I’ve really enjoyed working with the students and building relationships with them. The students and teachers are very welcoming and kind.” Bakker goes on to say that she likes the one:one. The technology makes it easier to get work done. It is easy to connect with students.”
