Gladbrook Alive And Growing!! Plan to stop by the new site on October 6th to see how it all fits together and enjoy a FREE pork sandwich from 11:00-1:00. The new Fire Station and Ambulance Building project and the funding drive took another great jump the past three weeks. A lot of Alumni were back and provided support as well as a continuation of local support for the project. We can report the project has over 200 contributions and pledges totaling over $725,000 toward the project goal of $800,000. As you may have noticed the site has been cleared of the trees and building so you can start to see where the new building is going. For those that are still wondering if it will happen, the answer is yes it will be built. The Gladbrook City Council signed the architect contract with Ament Design at the council meeting on September 9th so design for the new facility can begin. We are anticipating a construction contract bid opening in February or March with construction beginning in the spring, several months ahead of schedule. We have had several people comment that they don’t see how it will all fit at the new site so in the next couple weeks the proposed building will be laid out with stakes and paint. On October 6th the fireman and ambulance personnel will bring fire trucks and ambulances and show you how it will all function. The fireman will also be grilling FREE pork sandwiches from 11:00- 1:00 for your enjoyment. This is a great opportunity to come and ask questions and provide input as the final design process will just be starting. We are well on our way to develop another reason to live and invest in the Gladbrook Community. All donors will be recognized in the Gladbrook City Centre. With a continued successful fund drive, it is anticipated that construction will begin the Spring of 2014 with the building enclosed by Fall 2014. Please note the accelerated schedule is based on great community support so far. We just need to finish the fund raising campaign, with your help. Pledge forms can be picked up at Gladbrook City Hall. The project is accepting 3 year pledges with payments in December 2013, December 2014 and January 2015. All contributions will go through the Gladbrook Community Foundation and are tax deductible. If you have any questions regarding the project contact any of the Gladbrook Firemen or Mayor Keith Sash.
