Tammy Wise with the Central Point of Coordination office (CPC) presented the Tama County Board of Supervisors with the latest information on HIPAA policies. There are several changes. Wise says under the designation of associate security officers, the Sheriff’s Department Security Officer will be Chad Hanson. The Associate Security Officer notifies the Department Head if the User is either disabled from all system’s or user account is made inactive. If User account is disabled the user home folders are copied to location specified by Department hear or designee. Under Exhibit D, the Tama County Computer/Mobile Device Use Policy, is the following policies on computer, the Internet, mobile devices and electronic communication usage shall be observed by all HIPAA compliant Tama County offices. Users of the Internet and electronic communications transferring Protected Health information are to comply with HIPAA laws and regulations. Users should identify themselves properly when using electronic communication.. Each user is individually responsible for the content of any communication intentionally sent over or placed on the internet and electronic communication. Under Laptop/Computers/PDA’s/Smart Phones/Cell Phones/IPads, the following policy is for USB/Flash drives containing PHI and must remain in county office. Also approved were the Tama County HIPAA Breach Notification Policy and the Business Associate Provisions and Addendum policy. Sheriff Dennis Kucera told supervisors he would be ordering two new vehicles and may need to order two more. Kucera says he can do this and still stay within his budget. The County Engineer’s report shows road work continuing on Highway E29 from Garwin east to Iowa Highway 63, Highway D65 and Highway T47 from Gladbrook north. Next weeks meeting will not be held on Monday due to this bring a holiday, but will be held on Tuesday at the same time, 9:30 a.m. Claims approved for the past week came to $141,028.39.
