At the regular meeting of the Tama County Board of Supervisors Monday morning, July 15, 2013, Larry Vest, Kendall Jordan and Dan Anderson, met with the Tama County Department Heads to discuss changes to be made in the employee Hand Book. Department heads present were Michelle Yuska, County Treasurer, Linda Rosenberger, Tama County Health, Bob Etzel, Tama County Conservation, Tami Wise, CPC office, Jerry Witt, County Assessor, Brent Heeren, Tama County Attorney, Ryan Curren, Tama County Emergency Management, Elizabeth Ledvina, Tama County Veteran's Affairs, Lyle Brehm, Tama County Engineer and Dirk Henle, Tama County Maintenance. Some of the changes had to do with regular/part time employees, change due to the Affordable Care Act, cell phone usage , privacy policy (all new), computer use, overtime, sick leave, (dependent parents removed), funeral leave, military leave (in accordance to a law change), holidays, vacations and political activity. These changes came about due to law changes and requests from employees and department heads. 2013 Homestead/Military exemption removals include one house being razed, one change of title, one forfeiture, three foreclosures four tax deeds, five sheriff's deed, six NRO, eleven deceased, fourteen change of address, sixty five sold. Eighty six new additions were recorded. Approval was given for the Treasurer's semi-annual report, the Sheriff's quarterly report and the Auditor's quarterly report. Lyle Brehm, County Engineer, says the asphalt of Highway D65 in the northern part of the county has been removed and has been placed on L Avenue between D65 and the Grundy County line. This is just the beginning of the work on D65. Brehm says FEMA should be coming soon to visit with him. A declaration has been received from FEMA and they must visit within sixty days of this declaration. Claims approved for the past week was in the amount of $1,125,533.30.
