The Gladbrook Auxiliary hosted 36 senior citizens on Friday, July 12 at the Gladbrook Memorial Building. The menu included a chicken casserole, 7-layer lettuce salad, corn bread muffins, and brownie sundaes. The tables were decorated using a garden theme. Karen Pieper welcomed everyone and Joyce Swangel read a poem entitled “Garden Magic”. Chaplain Joyce gave the grace. Linda Goos entertained the group by singing “She’s Got You” by Patsy Cline. Community Service Chairman Karen Pieper read a poem “Thanks for Your Time”. She thanked all the ladies who volunteered their time to cook, serve the meal, and decorate tables. She also thanked Linda for her time to entertain us. Phyllis Chizek won the door prize which was a frog to set in her garden. Junior Member Kayla Vavroch assisted with the door prize drawing. Senior Citizens will not meet in August, but Chapel Church will be the hosts on Friday, September 13, at 11:30 a.m.
