Class Reunion - GHS Class of 1963

Twenty-one out of 28 members of the Gladbrook High School Class of 1963 participated in their 50th year reunion activities during the recent Corn Carnival. Class members rode on a floatin the grand parade Friday night. A brunch was held Saturday morning at Stan and Sue Koster’s home while a few golfers got rained out at the Dike course and joined the brunchers. A fun time was had reminiscing during a tour of the Gladbrook School Saturday late morning. A reunion dinner was held at the Memorial Building on Saturday night. Alan Lage was absent fo rthe picture. Special guests included our fifth grade teacher, Marilyn VanFleet Raplinger, Lakeville, MN; and Kathy Poling Anderson, our Home Ec. Teacher. Dean Hoppe, our emcee Saturday night, gave some interesting trivia about 1963: our mayor was Chuck King; our governor was Harold Hughes; a gallon of gas cost $.25 per gallon; a postage stamp was 5cents; and our athletic conference was called Iowa River Valley. It was a “Simply A-Maizing” 50th reunion weekend. The committee was Dean Hoppe, Jim Bauch, Ken Storjohann, Ken Clar, Corrine Jensen, Joyce Swangel and Sue Koster.
