Gladbrook Community Foundation Announces Grants

The Gladbrook Community Foundation Board of Directors has announced the 2013 disbursements for a total $2,450.00. This is the 6th year that the Gladbrook Community Foundation has awarded grants. The following is the community betterment project that received funds this year: •Gladbrook Theater (Second floor storage in the City Centre) $2,450.00 There will be an awards presentation during intermission of Gladbrook’s Got Talent on June 29, 2012. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Gladbrook Theatre. All gifts made to the Foundation qualify as charitable donations for the donor, and are recognized as such by the Internal Revenue Service. This gives donors the ability to donate to the community of Gladbrook and avoid federal and state income, estate and gift taxes on those contributions. Your tax-deductible contribution to the Gladbrook Community Foundation can be mailed to PO Box 373 Gladbrook, IA 50635. Gifts to the Foundation may be made in cash, appreciated securities, real estate, pledges, deferred gifts (such as life insurance proceeds or bequests through wills), or charitable remainder trusts. The Foundation will receive and accept properties and gifts for the benefit of Gladbrook and its citizens, and will distribute those gifts to community organizations such as those named above, either as the donor directs the funds to be spent, or as the Foundation’s Board of Directors select. Visit with any of the five board members, or with Sherri Denbow, at the Farmers Savings Bank & Trust, for more information about the Foundation. Board members for 2013 include: Mandy Gehring, chairman, who represents the Gladbrook-Reinbeck Community School; Carolyn Moe, vice-chairman, who represents the Gladbrook Commercial Club; Dennis Barnes, who represents the Ehrig-McTurk American Legion Post #127; Kenneth Strohbehn who represents the Gladbrook Lion’s Club; and Keith Sash, who represents the Gladbrook City Council. John Livingston serves as secretary for the Foundation, Bowman and Miller serves as the CPA and the Farmers Savings Bank & Trust serves as Trustee.
