Each year, since 2005, the Gladbrook American Legion Auxiliary presents a Citizenship Award to a 8th grade student. The students are nominated by the staff based on their exemplary personal characteristics of respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, cooperation, and caring for others. Seven students were nominated this year, Sasha Nagle, Jaden McGhee, Thomas Musig, Dmitriy Strohbehn, Katy Thompson, Slade Wager, and Kathryn Wild. Gladbrook Legion Auxiliary Vice-President Trudi Scott, presented Katy Thompson, daughter of Kim Thompson of Gladbrook and Roger Thompson, Union Grove Lake, the 2013 Gladbrook Auxiliary Citizenship Award. Katy’s name was engraved on the plaque which will be displayed at the G-R Middle School.
