The Lady Rebels soccer team has had quite a run since they have began to prepare for their first regional contest on May 28th. The Rebels have finished off the regular season with a strong 9-3 record. On the 6th of May, the Rebels were celebrating parent’s night while they took on Aplington-Parkersburg. The game ended well with the Rebels receiving a 3-2 victory. Nicole Adair had 2 goals for the Rebels, and Emily Snider added the third. On May 9th the Rebels traveled to Decorah to take on the Vikings. It rained the entire game, and there was even standing water on the field. The weather conditions did not faze the Rebels at all. They were able to come home with a 3-2 overtime victory. Emily Snider was able to put all three of the Rebel’s goals into the back of the net. With only one day to rest after an overtime victory, the Rebels traveled to Waverly for the Waverly Soccer Tournament. They found themselves matched up against the, all too familiar, Decorah Vikings. The Vikings were looking for revenge, but the Rebels held their own for a 3-1 victory. Emily Snider was able to score the first goal off of a deflected Nicole Adair shot. The next two goals were also scored by Emily Snider. The first one was off of a Kyleah Dugan corner, and the next one was off of a beautiful feed by Hannah Martin. The second game of the day was for the Championship, and it was against Waverly-Shell Rock. The Rebels had previously lost to them earlier in the season, and were looking for revenge. With a much stronger showing, the Rebels were still not able to pull off the win to end the Waverly tournament. The Rebels fell to the Go-Hawks 2-4. Taylor Weida and Kyleah Dugan were able to score goals in an effort to knock off the Go-Hawks. Next, was Hudson on May 16th, and the Pirates were ready for redemption. The scoring started off early when Emily Snider was able to finish a great ball by Hanna Christopher. The Pirates were able to answer right back. This same trend continued where the Rebels would score, and the Pirates would answer. Second half defensive changes put an end to the Pirates scoring, and the final score was 9-5. Apart from her early goal, Emily Snider was able to put two other shots into the back of the net. Kyleah Dugan and Hanna Christopher were both able to add two goals to the Rebel’s total. Nicole Adair was also able to add to the scoring column with a goal. The Rebels immediately turned around and headed to Denver the next day. This was an important game that was expected to be a close one. The Rebels had different plans and scored 3 first half goals. Two were scored by Emily Snider and one by Nicole Adair. The scoring ended right there, and the Rebel’s defense played an excellent game by holding a talented Denver squad scoreless. To end the regular season, the Rebels then traveled to Aplington to take on the Falcons. Although the game was slow, the Rebels were able to earn a convincing 6-1 victory over the Falcons. Goal scorers for Tuesday night’s match were Emily Snider (3), Kyleah Dugan (2), and Taylor Weida (1). This game ended the regular season, and the Rebels will now go back to work to prepare for their first home regional matchup against Garner-Hayfield /Ventura on May 28th. Come out and support your lady Rebels!
