Tama County Supervisors Kendall Jordan, Larry Vest and Dan Anderson, met Monday morning, May 20, 2013, with County Engineer Lyle Brehm, do discuss a road reclassification. Brehm told supervisors his office was interested in reclassifying a portion of 380th Street East of H Avenue. The road lies in sections 20 and 29 of Columbia Township. St. John’s Lutheran Church is at the West end of the road, near H. Avenue. This is a dead-end road due to a road closure approved some time ago. Brehm says he has not yet been in contact with the adjacent land owners, but will send out registered letters immediately. Brehm says the reason for the request is a landowner has requested the road closure through Supervisor Dan Anderson. The intention would be to reclassify the portion of road to a Area Service “C” which will entail a gate and restricted access. Brehm ask supervisors for a public hearing to be established for Monday, June 3, 2013 at the Board Room in the Tama County Administration Building. The hearing will be held for the purpose of input from anyone interested in the reclassification. Supervisors set Monday, June 3, 2013, for the hearing at 9:30 a.m. Brehm also requested a public hearing at 10:00 a.m. on June 3d for the road reclassification with a resolution to be approved. This would allow a decision to be made at that time whether or not they would act on the matter immediately or wait until a later date. Supervisors agreed to change the Monday, May 27th meeting to Tuesday May 28th due to Monday being Memorial Day and county offices will be closed. Susan Jones was present to discuss hour limitations for part time employees. This is something the Affordable Care Act (Obama Care) is asking for. It has to do with any part time employee who works over an average of thirty hours a week must have insurance. Jones was not sure how the salaried part time employees would be handled. More information will be gathered and further discussion next week. Claims approved for payment from last week amounted to $351,309.16 NEXT WEEKS MEETING WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, MAY 28.
