2013 Drivers Ed By: Lexie Curry Drivers Ed is just right around the corner. This year classes will begin on Monday, June 3rd. The classes will be on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. It will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The actual classes will end on the 28th of June, but we will continue to drive into July. You must have a permit to be able to join. If you have any questions call GMG Secondary School and as for Mr. Mark Gabriel, or email him at mgabriel@gawin.k12.ia.us.

Baseball And Softball by Scott Rockne GMG boys and girls are playing there first games of softball and baseball. The boy’s first baseball game was held on Tue, May 21, 5:30pm-8:30pm at Beaman against BCLUW. The girls softball game was held on Tue, May 21, in Conrad from 530pm-8:30pm. Remember to check the calendar for future games. Go support your GMG Wolverines!

Sports Banquet by Nathan Swaim The GMG sports banquet was held on May 20th. Many awards and letters were given out for sports, which were boys and girls golf and boys and girls track. There was just a presentation and no meal. Thank you to the participating seniors, you will be missed. We are planning for some awesome competition next year! Brock Fisher to Compete at the State Track Meet Tyler Thurston On Friday, May 17, the State Track Meet was held. Brock Fisher from GMG made it to state! Brock had won the high jump in class 1-A at conference and at districts. He then went on to jump at the State Meet and landed 9th place with a jump of 5’ 10’’. Everyone at GMG is proud of Brock for his feat, and they hope that he will perform even better next year. Congratulations, Brock, on a tremendous accomplishment!

Summer League Basketball By: Luke Petty GMG boy’s basketball has been invited to play in the Summer League. The Summer League takes place at Marshalltown at the Roundhouse at M.H.S. There will be two games every Sunday in June. We will be playing many different teams. East Marshall, South Tama, Newton, and Marshalltown are examples of the teams who we will be playing against. The Summer League is a great opportunity to get better and to play with your teammates. It helps us every year to prepare for the season. We hope to see all GMG basketball players at the summer league!

Caitlin Appelgate Travels to State Track by: Noah Scheidel On Friday, May 17, Caitlin Appelgate, a junior on the GMG girls track team, traveled to Drake University in Des Moines to compete in the State track meet. Caitlin had been working hard and practicing all season to qualify for the state meet at Drake. At the District/State Qualifying meet in Belle Plaine, Caitlin’s work paid off, and she qualified to compete at State. On Friday, May 17, the girls 1A athletes performed their high jumps. Caitlin placed an outstanding ninth place overall with a jump of 5 feet even. Caitlin plans to work hard next season as well, and she hopes to perform even better. Congratulations to Caitlin on her performance this season and at the State track meet. We are very proud of you!

Vacation Bible School Lane Williams It is about that time of year again! Vacation Bible School is right around the corner. VBS will be held Monday-Friday, June 10-14, 9:00-11:30 AM at Chapel Church, 1597 Abbott Ave (two miles north of bus exchange of Garwin Road).The theme this year is “Kingdom Rock.” The sheet to register will be sent home with your children from ages three years to sixth grade. Then you must return that sheet to Ann Jackson. Hope to see many children at this fun activity!
