New Trees For City Park

May 16, 2013

Although a few days behind schedule, Gladbrook Trees Forever and civic- minded volunteers celebrated Arbor Day and planted 10 Japanese tree lilac along Gould Street at the City Park. When mature, the ornamental trees produce beautiful white blooms and grow to about 20 feet but will not interfere with overhead utility lines. After the trees were planted, Gladbrook firefighters thoroughly watered the trees. Trees Forever Field Coordinator Patty Petersen instructed the group about correct tree planting procedures. Dennis King, Richard Klinefelter and Jamey Smock transported the trees to the City Park. Funding for the project was made possible through an Alliant Energy Branching Out grant.
