GMG Senior Awards by Zach Plante The GMG senior awards ceremony has been changed. It was originally scheduled for Friday, May 17, but has now been rescheduled to Wednesday, May 15. Following the awards ceremony, the seniors will have the graduation rehearsal. The senior awards ceremony starts at 8:30, and anyone is welcome to come in and attend the awards ceremony.

GMG Runs Against Tough Odds in Baxter by: Noah Scheidel On April 29, the GMG boys' track team traveled to Baxter to participate in the CMB Invitational. The weather was good for running, but many of the teams were larger schools from around the area. Seven teams competed in Baxter, including the following: CMB, Bondurant-Farrar, PCM, Nevada, Colfax-Mingo, and Saydel. Overall, GMG placed 7th with 33 points. In field events, Brock Fisher placed first in the high jump with a jump of 6' 1". Bryce Newcomb placed 4th in the long jump. In individual events, Devon Schuett placed 3rd in the 400 meter hurdles. Matt Smith placed 5th in the 2 mile, and Jeff Hughes placed 6th in the 2 mile. In relays, the 4X200 team of Bryce Newcomb, Lansana Mohr, Tyler Krull, and Dillon Slingluff placed 4th. The 4X100 team of Bryce Newcomb, Lansana Mohr, Devon Schuett, and Brock Fisher placed 6th. The 1600 meter medley relay team of Austin Vaughn, Dillon Slingluff, Bryce Newcomb, and Tyler Krull placed 6th. Good job to all of the GMG track boys on their performance in Baxter!

GMG Baseball Start-off: By Tyler Thurston Mr. Jay Beichley and Mr. Eli Odle are the GMG baseball coaches, and Mr. Dale Boren and Ms. Casey Hoskey are the GMG softball coaches this year. The GMG baseball and softball teams have started practice and are getting ready for the season. The first softball game will be May 21st in Conrad and the baseball game will be at Beamon. The teams are well-oiled machines and are excited for the beginning of the season.

Driver’s Ed by Nathan Swaim Driver’s Ed season is on the way. New drivers are upcoming. This is an exciting yet scary situation for parents. You have to be at least 14 to register. If your student has not already registered, and they would like to be in the class, please contact the GMG School immediately.

Memorial Day Weekend Lane Williams There will be no school on May, 27th due to the fact that it is Memorial Day. Take this three day weekend and enjoy it. Go outside and enjoy the weather. Spend time with the family.

Retirement For Mr.Rodgers by: Scott Rockne This is a Reminder to mark your calendar for Mr. Rodgers retirement party. The GMG High School is hosting a retirement party for Mr. Mark Rodgers. It is at GMG High School on Sunday, May 26,2013 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM. The public is invited to come and congratulate this educator on his 29 years of dedicated service to the students at GMG School. Refreshments will be served in the school cafeteria.

GMG Yearbook By : Luke Petty The deadline to order a GMG Yearbook is fast approaching. The last day to order a yearbook was May 3rd, however, if you contact the school you could still order one! Yearbook’s are great, so you can remember a lot of memories of high school. The cost is $50.

GMG Play at Conrad by Seth Egleston The BCLUW Golf meet was held at Union on April 29, 2013 at Oakwood Golf Course. The GMG men’s golf team consisted of Bridger Claassen, Chad Plaehn, Kenan Hall, Ryan Spurlin, and Luke Petty. Chad Plaehn’s score of 40 was the best, while Bridger Claassen’s 49 was not far behind. Other scores included 62 (Kenan Hall), 52 (Ryan Spurlin), and 60 (Luke Petty). Overall, GMG’s men’s golf team came in 9th place. Chad Plaehn’s 40 score was good enough for 4th place overall. The GMG women’s team also competed in the Union Golf Meet. However, they played in Conrad. Those competing were Shannon Fleming, Olivia Barrett, Summer Lagenbau, and Lexi Dubberkke. Shannon Fleming’s score of 50 was good enough for 4th place overall. Other scores included 55 (Olivia Barrett), 62 (Summer Lagenbau), and 64 (Lexi Dubberkke).

Spring Carnival by:Tristan Zoffka GMG Activities Department is sponsoring their Annual Spring Carnival. It will be held on May 10, 2013, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. It will be held in and around the Garwin gym. The sophomore class will be serving a supper that evening. The money will go toward the Class of 2015 prom. Some highlights will include the following: coaches dunk tank, raffle prizes, cake walk, and miniature basketball shoot. So, bring all your family and friends and enjoy our Spring Carnival!
