Tama County District Court

Before Judge Paul D. Miller in Tama County District Court in Toledo: Phillip Tarrell Davis, 22, homeless, entered and Alford Plea on a charge of false report to public safety entity. The plea does not admit the defendant committed the crime but admits belief the state has sufficient evidence to obtain a conviction at trial. Davis was sentenced to 13 days in jail with credit for 13 already served and fined $315. The charge was filed on March 23 after Davis called the emergency 991 telephone number and reported a man pointing a gun at him was chasing him in a sports utility vehicle. The report was found false and Davis used a false name to report the information according to the court documents. The charge was filed by Toledo Police Officer Joe McMillen. Andrew Eugene Lower, 26, Buckingham, was sentenced to a two-year suspended prison term for failure to comply with sex offender registry provisions. He pled guilty on April 4. Lowe also received a suspended $625 fine and was placed on supervised probation for two years. He was charged on Feb. 1 for violating Sex Offender Registry requirements by failing to appear for updates as required in January. The charge was filed by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Michael Wright. Sasha Rochaelle Reed, 21, rural Tama, pled guilty to driving while license revoked. She was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for two days already served and a $1,000 fine was suspended. Reed was charged on April 5 in the 1900 block of Meskwaki Road by Meskwaki Nation Tribal Police Officer Jacob Molitor. William Charles Phillips, 42, Reinbeck, pled guilty to 1st offense drunken driving. He was sentenced to two days in jail and fined $1,250. Phillips was charged on April 14, 2012, at U.S. Highway 63 and K Avenue by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Bryan Ellenbecker. Tiffany Marie Buffalo, 32, Hiawatha, Kan., pled guilty to 1st offense drunken driving. She was sentenced to two days in jail and fined $1,250. Buffalo was charged Nov. 11, 2011, at U.S. Highway 63 and 2nd Avenue by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Joe Quandt. Nathaniel James Mortiz, 18, Tama, received a deferred judgement and was placed on supervised probation for three years to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services after pleading guilty to 3rd degree burglary. He was charged in a county Attorney's Information for a break-in at Williams Manufacturing in Tama which occurred Aug. 12,2012. Moritz was also directed to pay victim restitution to be determined.
