Large Goup Music Contest By: Sadie Walton

May 3, 2013
Northern-Sun Print
Friday, May 3rd is the date of Large Group Music Contest for our G-R choirs and band. All choir and band students will travel to Grundy Center High School to perform for judges. The judges will listen to the performances and give them a rating based on how well they believe the choir or band did. Grundy Center is the designated school for all 1A choirs and bands participating in large group this year. Other schools performing include: Grundy Center, Valley Lutheran, East Buchanan, Belle Plaine English Valley, North Tama, BGM, Dunkerton, HLV and Iowa Valley. The first Gladbrook-Reinbeck performance will be the band at 4:25. They are the second band to perform of the evening. Next will be the girl’s chorus, or G-R Treble, at 5:45. The girls will be singing three songs: “She Sings” by Amy Feldman Bernon, “Dance on My Heart” by Shubert, and “Danny Boy” by Julie Knowles. Last to perform will be the G-R Mixed Chorus at 6:15. They will also be performing three songs. Choir director, Amanda Bridges, has selected “Psallite” by Praetorius, “Lebenslust” by Shubert, and “The Pasture” by Z. Randall Stroope. All of the G-R music students have been working hard to prepare for this contest. There is nothing they want more than a good rating. If you are a music lover or just a fan of G-R fine arts, feel free to come to Grundy Center on the third. The music students would love to have you there to show your support and listen to the lovely music they have prepared.
