GMG Journalism Class

Solo/Ensemble By:Lexie Curry On Saturday, April 13, our solo and ensemble students from GMG will be preforming at Iowa Valley in Marengo. In the vocal solo devision Sara Hinson, Dillion Slingluff, and Taylor Jackson will be preforming. The vocal duets are Sara Hinson and Andrew Hughes; Chelsea Hurd and Shawna Hughes; Dillion Slingluff and Jennifer Borota; Taylor Jackson and Megan Slingluff; and Andrew Hughes and Jeff Hughes. For vocal ensemble Sara Hinson, Summer Langenbau, Caitlyn Applegate, Autumn Rosacker, Mackenzie Burt, and Jennifer Borota. There will be a Sax ensemble by Dillion Slingluff, Autumn Rosacker, and Caitlyn Applegate. A flute ensemble will be by Jennifer Borota, Mackenzie Burt, and Olivia Barritt. Come and join us and watch these wonderful students preform their amazing performances.

BCLUW Track Meet Tyler Thurston On Thursday, April 4 the GMG track boys went to participate at the meet in Conrad. They placed fifth overall in the meet with a score of 54 points. GMG had 3 3rd place medalists, which were Eric Lada for the discus, Bryce Newcomb in the long jump and Lansana Mohr in the 100 meter dash. Two people received 4th place medals, which were Gage Fraser in shot put and Brock Fisher in the high jump. GMG also received 3 5th place medals for the shuddle hurdle relay Those runners were Devon Schuett, Kyle Borota, Josh O’Neal, and Michael Tichy. Lansana Mohr placed 5th in the 200 meter dash and Devon Schuett in the 400 meter hurdles. The GMG track team thought that the meet was a good experience, and they’re only going to get better from there.

GMG Girls Track at Eldora by: Tristan Zoffka GMG girls went to the Eldora Track Meet on Friday, April 5. The girls ran their hardest. In the 200 meter dash Sara Hinson placed 6th. Caitlin Appelgate captured 5th in the 400 meter dash. In the 400 meter hurdles Mikaella Koster landed a 6th place. In the 4x100 the girls ran a great race. In this race were Megan Slingluff, Caitlin Appelgate, Mikaella Koster and Sara Hinson, and they placed 6th. Finally, Caitlin Appelgate placed second in the high jump of 5 feet. Our Lady Wolverines are starting the season looking great!

Autism Workshop By : Luke Petty GMG High School will be hosting award-winning author, professional speaker, and autism speaker, Ms. Rhonda Spellman. She will be speaking on April 27th, 2013, from 9 - 11 A.M. A copy of her book, The Journey Home From Autism, is included for each family with a $25 fee per family. She will be available for Q and A’s following her program. Please attend this very informative workshop on Autism.

Junior High GMG Relays by Tyler Thurston The GMG relays for the junior high boys and girls will be in Tama this year. It will be held on April 26, 2013. GMG needs people to help out at this track meet. If you are willing and able, please come help! GMG needs people to help time events and take tickets. We also need press box workers, field event workers, and hurdle setters. We would greatly appreciate your help!

Driver’s Ed by Nathan Swaim The Driver’s Ed course is coming upon on us very soon. It will be held this summer of 2013. The deadline of the sign up will be on April 19th. I would sign up as soon as you can though, this class can fill up pretty quickly. Classes will be held on June 3rd and continue through the end of June. The students will be driving during the months of June and July. Students who are interested should have received a form that should have been completed and returned to the office. The cost for residential students is $295, but for out-of-district students the cost is $395. The cost for open enroll students is $295. This fee must be paid by April 26, 2013. I encourage this young drivers to try their hardest and take this seriously. It is a huge part of everyday life!

Parent Teacher Conference by Seth Egleston GMG will hold its final parent teacher conference on April 24. The times are between 4 and 8 P.M. at the high school. This is a chance to see how your child is doing in their final quarter of the school year. Hope to see all secondary parents at this conference.
