Gladbrook Women’s Club

April 5, 2013
Northern-Sun Print
Gladbrook Women’s Club met at Independent Living on March 14, 2013, with 17 members present. Vice President Pat Clausen called the meeting to order. Reading of the minutes of the February meeting was waived. The treasurer’s report was read and approved. Teacher Appreciation Day is April 3rd. Shirley Miell reported it was prepared for. Easter egg coloring day is set for March 22, 2:30 p.m., with five members prepared to help the nursing home residents with the project. As Independent living has been so generous to allow the club use of the facility, we voted to thank them with a monetary donation of $100 or an item that would be appreciated there. It was suggested a floor lamp was needed. Shirley Miell, Pat Goos, and Avriel Koester will shop for one. There was discussion on items stored at the Memorial Building as the Legion would like for us to have them more properly stored and organized. Shirley Miell reported the Hospice cookies were ready to deliver. She also had correspondence from them that an Appreciation Supper was planned for all the cookie makers. It will be held April 9th at Isle of Capri. Members wishing to go need to RSVP Shirley. Pat read the March birthdays and anniversaries. Our April meeting is the Spring Luncheon held at Independent Living with the residents joining us. Our program will once again be the GMG speech students under the direction of our member Margaret Thomsen. Our hostesses were Juanita Fulster, Mary Appelgate, and Pat Goos. They served us assorted sandwiches with pickles, punch, and coffee on tables decorated for St. Patrick’s Day.
