Young Guns 4H for March 2013

The regular meeting of the Young Guns 4H club was held March 23rd at the Extension office. Connor Casto called the meeting to order at 6:15. There were 8 members and 9 parents and visitors present. Liesel Casto led the Pledge to the American Flag and Connor led the 4H Pledge. Connor read the minutes of our last meeting. They were approved by Dakota Vodochodsky and Jensen Vodochodsky seconded them. The treasurer’s report was given by Dakota and received as read. Our balance as of March 23rd is $1688.78. Brock Upah motioned to approve the report and Wyatt Hintermeister seconded it. Old business discussed was to thank everyone that helped at the winter carnival. The basketball shoot was very popular. We will be cleaning the highway we adopted June 1st. The invitational is canceled due to the lack of ammunition. We will try again in the fall. The shotgun raffle made us $1700. Darin Nosbush of Minnesota won the shotgun. He will be sending a picture in the future for the paper. Eric Keller motioned to end old business and Brock Upah seconded it. New business was to order t-shirts, handed out a sheet to everyone to put down their sizes. FSQA training for anyone interested in showing beef, sheep, dairy, dairy goat, swine, poultry, or rabbit, RSVP at the extension office. See if anyone was interested in having a fun shoot for the club. Plan to purchase 2 air rifles for the club. Budgeted $300 for the purchase, Dakota motioned to approve the budget to purchase the rifles and Liesel seconded it. Decided everyone should purchase their own safety glasses. The club has extras, in case someone forgets theirs. Purchasing shotgun vests was mentioned; we decided to order 4 vests for the members interested in competing in shotgun. A budget of $45 - $55 each was approved by Dakota and Jensen seconded and motion was passed. A motion was passed to purchase more ammunition, clays, and 4 shotgun vests. Brock approved the motion and Eric seconded. Eric motioned to end new business and Brock seconded. A motion to adjourn the meeting was passed by Jensen and seconded by Brock and passed unanimously. Dakota did a presentation on how to clean a muzzleloader. Instructor, Josh Casto taught a wildlife lesson on how to find your position and plot a course with a compass and map. The next meeting will be April 20th; time will be announced at a later date. Wyatt will be the host and will also be doing the presentation.
