Chad Meredith Henry Cooper, 67, of Traer, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at his home in Traer. Visitation was at Overton Funeral Home on Sunday, Feb., 24 from 3 to 6 p.m. Services were held at the United Methodist Church in Traer on Monday, Feb., 25 at 10:30 a.m. Military rites by Traer American Legion. Burial was at Crystal Cemetery in rural Toledo. Overton Funeral Home in Traer is assisting the family. Condolences may be left at www.overtonservice.com Chad Meredith Henry Cooper was born August 8, 1945 in Waterloo, Iowa, son of Albert Henry and Alta Josephine Merriam Cooper. He received his education in Traer and graduated from high school in the class of 1963. He continued his education at Iowa State University where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and the ROTC. He later received his degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Chad then served his country during the Vietnam War. He was married to Kathy Williams and they later divorced.  Chad worked various jobs though out his life which included farming and tiling, working at the family feed lot, truck driver, Manager of the Golden Door Motel in Traer bartending and dealing cards at the casino. He was preceded in death by his parents Chad is survived by a son Eugene Henry (Naomi) Cooper and their children Cora and Emmet of Vallejo, Calif.; a daughter Juanita (Doug) Carlson and their children Lucas and Wyatt, of Cedar Rapids; a sister Adrienne (Larry) Nelson, of Dysart; two brothers, Jan (Connie) Cooper, of Traer, and Joel (Jewel) Cooper, of Cedar Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
